Two-factor authentication in MYOB Acumatica: What you need to know
MYOB Acumatica (formerly MYOB Advanced) has come a long way to become one of the fastest-growing Cloud-ERP solutions in the Australian market.
With such rapid growth, security has become a primary focus for MYOB to ensure that all MYOB Acumatica users are protected from malicious attacks.
For this reason, MYOB has announced the launch of two-factor authentication (2FA) in MYOB Acumatica.
In this article, we are going to explain what 2FA is, what you need to do and what it means to your business.
What is two-factor authentication?
The data within your MYOB Acumatica system is sensitive and important. 2FA helps you further enhance the security of your data. We have previously posted about the MYOB Acumatica architecture and the level of security measures in place within the system. 2FA adds an extra layer of security to your MYOB Acumatica system.
How does 2FA in MYOB Acumatica work? 2FA is an addition to your sign-in process. Previously, when signing into your MOB Advanced platform you were required to enter your username and password only. With 2FA, after you enter your username and password, you will be sent a text message with a secret code. Enter the code as the next sign-in step and you will be logged in.
This is a better way to protect your account because it requires two identifying factors. First, something you know: your password. Second, something you have: your phone.
What do MYOB Acumatica users need to do?
With the September update, all MYOB Acumatica users will be able to set up 2FA. Find more information and download the detailed guide to 2FA setup in MYOB Acumatica.
Setup steps include:
- Login to your MYOB Acumatica system and you will be redirected to the setup page.
- Download the Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator app. Follow the instructions and enter the code into your software.
MYOB will push the functionality to all MYOB Acumatica users in the coming weeks. After the feature goes live to your platform, every login will require the extra step of authentication.

What does 2FA mean to your business?
With more and more businesses relying on technology to store data and run operations, malicious attacks have become more common. Security has, therefore, become a focal point for most software vendors.
2FA (credentials and text message to your mobile phone) during the sign-in process, help you make sure that only authorised staff can access your MYOB Acumatica (formerly MYOB Advanced) system.
In fact, if malicious systems can guess your username and password to attempt a login, they won’t be able to complete the sign-in because they can’t access the secret code that will be texted to you only.
